Hands on 'Shorty' M305 review.

Just placed my order... My wife requested that I wait until 2012 to buy another gun but you know... Spending hours looking at those without being able to play with my own hurts too much. :p

I've got a few observations from my trip to the range with my short M305 this afternoon:

- fired about 50 rounds of Norinco steel-cased ammo, function was flawless.
- accuracy was good. I only put it on paper at 50m but it was an inch or less at that distance.
- the front sight is needlessly tall. I had to dial the rear sight up to over 400m to get POA to equal POI at 50m.
- the rear aperture needs to be opened up a bit.
- AIA mags work just fine.

Nope. The ones that come with one of these:

Ditto. I was very pleased with functioning, although I didn't work too hard to assess accuracy [no time]. My front sight doesn't seem to be as tall as others I've seen pictured here, but I was definitely on the money. I agree that the rear sight aperture could be larger. Good fun! The Norinco ammo seems to burn quite cleanly too...

Dammit! I have been away from CGN for a while, and what happens when I come back...I discover this deal....Resistance MAY be futile....

Just got mine. Op rod was off just a little. Fixed using Hungry's remedy. I opened the aperature slightly. Degreased and will sight it in tomorrow. No noticeable weight difference from the standard M305 but the length makes it very handy.
