Hank Parker Illegaly shoots a Coyote?

Frick me, I wish Manitoba would stiffen there hunting laws to outsiders...... like some of the other provinces.

Phack me it is just a mangey coyote. Who cares........ not me that is for sure.

Yep..Its illegal to shoot a coyote if you're not a resident of Saskatchewan.

Save the coyotes.... they are endangered and need protection.

Great legislation, if ever there was!!!

There's a reason for the law. A few years ago we had a non resident coyote licence, but a few Americans realized that that was an opportunity to pack a rifle in whitetail country without all those annoying licences, seasons and baby sitters we make them pay for. Word is, some Canadian non-residents had the same idea.

Story pretty much writes itself from there.

My understanding of the law is that while a outfitter may be legally able to guide coyote hunts, this service is only to sask residents. Ultimately, any non-resident of sask is not able to legally shoot a coyote in this province. Dumb, stupid, and out dated as it may be the law is the law. I have yet to find anything suggesting otherwise.

Who is Hank Parker?

He's Jeff Foiles silent business partner......:D:stirthepot2:

They are teaming up and coming out with a new product................C'Mere Birdie. Foiles is developing it right now as we speak from his cell in Marion Illinois Pententiary in between rounds of dodging Bubba whose trying to give him the Strait Meat Treatment..!!:owned:

I for one applaud SERM for acting quickly to shut down the NR coyote season.

I'm not a Hanky lover but I have to give the guy the benefit of the dought.

I think if Saskatchewan has this dumb regulation as Coyotes are predators and they want to save them to residents only, they have to be One of the very few Provences/States that do this and when someone that travels all around to do different hunts in these places, may not have had any idea that such a law would even be.

Yes Randy Anderson may not shoot as he knows this law but he only hunts coyotes at most of the time and is not known to hunt other game, so he is up on this law.

I believe that the Outfitter is a part of the blame as this is his job too is to notify Hanky of these odd game laws.

Seems you guys in Saskatchewan are targeting these TV personal / Other then the exception of Foils because of the high volume of Saskatchewan TV hunting program. Maybe you should start targeting the Outfitters in Saskatchewan that setup these hunts as they are the ones that want the TV advertizement...

Why? so we can let every fudd toting with a 30-30 from Ontario, that have a 1 or 2 tag licence for coyotes come here and shoot with-out a guide? Think you need to go back to bed, you were still sleeping when you wrote that. No offense to some Ontario people. Some are so different from us hillbillies in the west, it can be hard at times to think that we are from the same country. rant over
The problem with the guiding/outfitting started, when people found out that they were making money. Money is what pisses people off..

Why would you not want us to help rid your province of varmints and bring money into your economy?..... why the hell should anyone need to pay for a guide to go out and enjoy a day's hunt?.... Here in Ontario we welcome hunters from all over.... including Saskatchewan.... we are all canadian last I checked.... except for Quebec but that's a whole differenmt ballgame....lol

It's not me making regulations. In your province can you shoot on land with out permission?
I think it boils down to proper management of all game. Some hunters aren't all honest, and while hunting coyotes with 300 win mag, might just pop a moose,deer,elk..etc. It is way easier to keep track of hunters if you know who is guiding for them.
I see a lot more " Bed and Breakfasts" opening up near good hunting grounds. This is just another way around guiding in the farmland. The influx of wealthy Albertans buying land on the forest fringe is also growing. The houses just happen to have 6 or 7 bedrooms, and their buddies come hunting.
Who knows maybe they give these people a little money for their stay? I was told not long ago that we don't know how to manage our wildlife in this province. But having people that do this is helping?

Law is law, no matter how redundant, and if a non-res shoots a coyote in Sask, he/she is breaking that law. Probably most of the blame lies on the guide for allowing Hank to shoot it, but a hunter should know the regs if they are traveling around hunting in unfamiliar areas.

Poaching is poaching, even if it is not a big game animal.

You are right... some hunters aren't honest.... some Saskatchewan hunters aren't honest either.... Like Blargon said, poaching is poaching whether resident or non resident...

And yes... the law is the law... I think allowing hunters to shoot on land without permission is ridiculous... but that's just me...

I just don't see why you feel to single out ontarians... I can assure you that if I ever get an opportunity to hunt in Saskatchewan I would learn your laws and follow them.... as I would expect you to do here....

Rainy River District has a guide requirement for US based hunters. The argument that a guy hunting yotes with a .300 to avoid guide/outfitter requirements/fees (in an effort to hunt deer) is a little stretched. I don't think many would try that stunt. Of course in Ontario the MNR has confused regs involving hunting small game with a .22 mag or .17 HMR because someone may poach a deer with the more powerful rim fire. Always a different way of looking at things.
