Its here...

My new Hornady Lock N Load AP is HERE!!

The only downside is that it is EARLY!!

I was not expecting it until next week. My new loading area is not done!! I still need to insulate and Drywall the room! ARGH!

No sense in setting it up on my old bench as it is covered in crap to make room while I set up the new area!! THE HUMANITY!!

pics are required you know. and my new bullet feeder will work the Hornday too eh!

I'd love to see some pics of the primer feed. Did you order the new case feeder???

My first progressive was a Pro-jector, and I loved it.

No case feeder. I have a 13 year old to do that. I am actually going to build my own feeder for cases and bullets at some point.

The primer feeder is a lesson in simplicity. So much better than the Lee it is replacing.

The old primer feeder on the Pro-Jector was a weak link. It was a swinging arm, and timing and tolerance was a headache.

You gotta be kidding me right? something more simple and effective than a LEE product? I gotta see to believe. Until then, I stick with my Lee.

I should have said simplicity THAT WORKS!

I have loaded thousands of rounds on my Lee and cursed the primer feed every single time I touched it.

The Hornady is ELEGANT

Here you go. Look to the last part of the vid - notice the primer pushing up when the handle is pushed.

If a case picks up a primer, another one drops into the slider. If not, the primer remains in the slider and nothing drops into it. The only moving parts are the slider and the primer punch. Simple and effective. You can see a closeup line drawing here on page 9: http://www.hornady.com/media/LNL_AP.pdf

The Lee tray is faster to refill, but the Hdy tube is simple, simple, simple in operation. On the ram downstroke, push the handle until the primer feels seated. It's a more-or-less firm push depending on the case/primer brands (eg., S&B brass is brutally tight).

FYI, my Lee Loadmaster never flipped, crushed, or missed primers - because I kept it clean, found the right rhythm, and smoothed out the primer path with fine files.
