Happy New Year 2020! Norinco 1897 Trench gun Back in Stock! Only 299

Nice, man, when I was young{20+ years ago} lol I had I think one of these-Original- in Take Down..in a leather case. Got it for a deal at a Gun show.. not long after, traded it for something more 'Tactical'..GAH!!

Just got my 1897 in the mail, so here's a preliminary review
Action and loading was initially janky but a few dozen passes of snappies turned everything smooth. Smoother, I mean. It's still Chinese. You can't help but squint when you look at it. That's how scrappy it is.
Didn't come with any sort of manual, or even a warning label. Just the gun in a plastic bag with a very light film of what might have been cosmoline, or not. Stuff behaved the similarly to old, gunky cosmoline but it didn't have that distinct smell.
Only definite bad mark is that the stock is damaged. It obviously chipped at some point, and then they glued the bit back on. It's not a functional problem, but it's kinda flagrant and hard to not look at. Not the best $300 I ever spent, but not the worst by a long shot.

I guess I got one of the last heat shield/ bayo mounts! Mine shipped out on Monday, ordered a bayo and sling today. Already spent almost twice as much on add ons and haven’t even got the shotgun in my hands yet!

By the way, for those who would like to have one more round in the tubular magazine ( 6+1 instead of 5+1). Just cut few coils off the magazine spring (usually 4 1/2 coil).
and you'll be able to put 6 in there . I was told that the only reason it is limited to 5+1 is
because of import restrictions. It will function perfectly, if not better , with the shorter spring.

There is a 6 round conversion kit with a new spring and follower made for the 1897 that does this.

Take Down Frame or Solid Frame 1897.Original Winchester ‘97s were designed to hold six 2-5/8″ shells in the magazine.

But with modern 2-3/4″ rounds, 6 rounds usually fit too tightly to feed the first round.

They are made for the Winchester but do not know if it fits into the Norinco.

So, who is going to come out with a combo sale on one of these and a box of the Winchester commemorative 12 ga ammo with full brass hull and fancy shmancy box!!??

I got mine today. Wood is nice and the bluing is nice.

Ran snap caps with authority.

It's a great deal! Very happy.
