Nice picture, great rifle, great caliber. Can't say much more than that. I have a pair of Win 308's model 88 now in my cabinet. One was Grandpa's & one was Dad's. Not as nice as that rifle, but still shoot good.
I have my Grandpa's old Mossberg, 1930's vintage, that has seen many a round. Times were tough after the war, and it was his only rifle to put meat on the table with. From squirrel to rabbit to whitetail...

Here's some pics of a Husqvarna Lightweight 7x57 I recently purchaced. I'd say it could tell some storys. I've added an older long tube leupold 4x. Nice set-up.

Great rifle, I have two vintage Mossbergs myself.
I think the term is "used but not abused". And to the folks that have posted the pictures so far I'd call the blueing and wood wear on yours more patina than wear. It's nice to see arms, cars, motorcycles or good tools that are used but also respected as a matter of course and have been able to age graciously as a result.
Built this rifle from scratch. Arg 1909 action, Shilen barrel (30-06) 20" long, Timney trigger, Trimmed trigger guard, Boyd's stock, Zrak mounts, Pecar 6X45 scope with German square edged duplex crosshair, Lyman front sight, winchester safari rear sight.

Rifle was bought new by him in the early 50's. Suppied our family with alot of deer, elk, and moose meat when I was a youngster....('Course now-a-days, a 270 is much too small to kill elk....they have mutated I guess).
Only way Pa ever hunted was on foot. He's coming 77 this September, and he still comes out, slings his ole gun over his shoulder, and gets around best he can. Priviledge to hunt with him each season.

Treasure every year Dmay. My Dad made it to 80 before he figured his legs just wouldn't work well enough. He didn't hunt the last couple of years, but loved just being in camp almost as much. Camp's just not the same anymore.
I should dig up a pic of his old 308. Sako L57 action, North American Arms "Grizzly" barrel, wearing an old Weaver K 2.5
