Hard choice and need help.. IWI tavor tar 21 or H&K SL8-4

Another option is to buy:

1) Type97 when they get here and
2) Mini14 Target rifle.

Both rifles will cost about the same (once you add optics and a mount to the mini14 target). This covers varmint/target along with fun off hand plinker.

I own both. Apples and oranges. That's why I continue to own both. If both rifles served the exact same purpose I would sell the lesser of the two, but they dont so both remain.

The sl8 will shoot gophers with any bullets but its only truly good at grouping with 75 grain for me. Have not tried 69s yet though. 62s rent tight enough though.

I treat my tavor like a 10/22 meaning a plinker. But I only have like 300 down range outta the tavor.

No time to shoot.

Thanks for the input, but I'm really looking into Tavor and SL8. I totally hate the Type 97, I just can't like it... so ugly (sorry for those who like it) and the mini 14, just not my type of rifle I'm looking for.. Thanks tough..

I would go with an SL8 personally. HK makes impeccable quality. Also just curious why you don't want an XCR? IMO that is going to be your best bet of the 3.

I just don't like the look of the Robs arms. I'm trying to stay away from the AR looking platform.... Like the H&K and Tavor's look.. and still really torn between both of them... So far, I'm kinda leaning towards the H&K.. It would need the AR magwell and possibly the lower/folding stock. I would sure try it as is and if I don't really like the feeling of it (also want it a little more compact), I will get the lower and folding stock.. We shall see!

But one thing is quite possible, later down the road, I will get the other one.. just to see how far I can push the ol'lady before she blows a gasket!!! ahahahhahahaha

Well to each there own I have the h@k with a leupold 4-12 vxr it is the greatest toy I bought....very... Very accurate. Great gun for coyotes .... At the range I'm fighting with the girlfriend to shoot it..... German engineering .... I think they make the best....tell me who makes a gun and in the manual it says clean after 1000 rounds!!!! .... H&k all the way!!!!

I think you should buy either, enjoy it, and work towards buying the other. To me that's an obvious solution that makes your dilemma moot.
How many guys here have only one gun? [Cue sound of crickets...]

I bought my SL-8 for varmints, and with limited range time found that it is a true MOA rifle with factory match ammo. I'm more than pleased with its accuracy. It is noticeably more accurate than an Armalite 20" heavy barrel I shot with.

When I get some time, I'd like to handload for the rifle - I fully expect to significantly improve accuracy.

It is a bit front-heavy, but most of my varmint hunting is deliberate, longer range shooting (groundhogs, coyotes). No "snap shooting" at all, so it's just about perfect for my needs.

I own both. Shoot the Tavor at least 4x more than the sl8. Both are great for what they are built for, but they are built for very different things. The sl8 is easily more accurate but the fun factor of the Tavor would make it the one I'd keep if I had to pick one.
