hard choice

IMHO a 6.5x55 is a way better deer killer than a 243. I have 2 243s and do not use either to hunt deer. They are superb for coyotes but you know. I have only shot 2 deer each with both cal and I think the 6.5 does a better job.

easy choice, the biggest bullet for the 243 is 105gr, in the 6.5 is 160gr and 85gr hp for coyotes, my dad took 2 moose with the 6.5, one was over 250 yards away

The OP is looking for a varmint/deer rifle . The .243 has 55gr. Nosler varmint bullets for gophers and 85 gr. Barnes TSX for deer as well as a bunch in the middle for coyotes (75 gr. Sierra HP's are awesome coyote bullets).
There is no mention of elk or bigger game so the 6.5x55 has no advantage for what he's looking for. Most people don't want a 100 gr. bullet or higher to shoot gophers and their likes.
Go get yourself a T3 Lite in .243 and don't look back. Excellent rifle for the money, wish I would have bought one vs. the Remington I just bought.

Cheers!!

Depends on what you are shooting. If its just deer and the odd coyote or the like, then the 6.5 would be my choice.

If you are going to be blasting away at prairie dogs all day, the .243 would be better, but a .20 or .22 cal would still be my choice.

Sometimes you can't do it all with one rifle. Well, you can, but it would get tiring and/or expensive real fast...
