There is overdoing it and then there is plain wrong.
Sorry, but those are about the ugliest grips I have ever seen on a 1911.
Very nice work on the pistol though, you have great taste.

I'd recommend the Simonich Gunner grips or VZ canvas, micarta or linen gator grips

Oh, yeah suggestions - well with hard chrome you can go two ways. First you can pull off the 'my pistol is better than your pistol' approach and for that nothing beats Spegel or Hogue Kingwood, or Zebra wood. The other approach is 'I hard chromed my pistol because I use it soooo hard any other finish won't cut it'. For this use what the pro's use, Simonovich Gunner grips. Nice pistol by the way.

yeah, i do shoot it, but certainly ain't hard on it.. not sure what i'll do yet, i have a set of g10 grips comin.. lots of guys like em, so im sure one of my guns will like 'em.. who knows what i'll end up with

i do like that madagascar rosewood tho... hmm

i actually have been eyeing up them madagascar rosewood grips from ahrends, who knows.. and yeah most of the inside is all chromed too, from what i can tell, not to the same detail of course, not quite sure in the process to do it. wonder if theres a way to refinish them snake grips in something darker?
