Hey guys,
Hopefully I don't get flamed for posting two finish related questions in a day, but I picked up one of the Polish unissued TT33s that are going around and was thinking about getting it hard chromed cause I think it would look awesome... My question is, as I know hard chrome is exceptionally thin, would scratches that can be felt by a fingernail be visible through the plating?
I always have loved the look of a mirror polished hard chromed gun, and this Pollock is clean enough that I think a mirror finish might look good, even if only on the flats... Only problem is a small scratch below the extractor that I feel might be too deep to polish out. If anyone could give their opinion as to whether this scratch could be polished out or filled in, I'd be much obliged.
Sorry for the heinous quality of these pictures, only had my phone camera...
It doesn't look too bad in the picture, but definitely can be felt by a fingernail. If the gun shoots as good as I think it will (the bore is pristine and slide/frame fit is tight) I kinda wanted to polish it up myself as a DIY project, any thoughts to whether that scratch will look like crap if I polish the gun up? I have more than one tok, don't feel any need to keep this one stock like the others. Know some of you will think it's stupid to put money into such a cheap gun, but I think it would be cool/unique!
EDIT: I know it's hard to tell from the picture how deep it is, but if it means anything it is shallow enough that it can't be felt with the pad of a finger, but deep enough that you can feel it running your fingernail over it.
Thanks!
