Hard Chrome = who does it?

Anyone know who does hard chroming in Canada. Gunnar doesn't anymore.

Have a couple of pistols I would like done.

Could you take it to a shop that does bumers and HD parts?

Find a local machine shop and ask them. I would be able to help you out but your half way accross the country. Try places that specialize in hydraulic cylinders, they are most ofteh chromed.

No Gunner is out of that end of the business that is why I asked the question. I would send the gun to him in a heartbeat. He will have two of my guns on Monday to do work.

contact rodger at RK Custom Guns through dark international. He did my STI Edge and it looks better than a factory job!! Amazing work.

Do you mean electroless nickel or hard chrome? Any shop nickeling or chroming a frame needs to have a gunsmithing license.

That is enough to make me take the whole gun to a bumper shop to have it chromed.

"...Could you take it to a shop that does..." It used to be that any metal finishing shop could do it, but not anymore. Any business that handles firearms must be licenced for said firearms and the employees must have a PAL.
"...electroless nickel or hard chrome..." Not the same thing.

I think Gunnar did electroless nickel plating. I don't think he did hard chroming but I could be wrong.

Sand bag filling is for younger backs than mine I am afraid. Water levels are dropping until next week then more of the same expected. I live up on the bench so water isn't the problem here.

Glad I have a bike because there is little to no gas in town until they get the highway open. Two full tanks of gas and lots of food and water put away. Feel sorry for folks who bought and live on the flood plain. Choices I guess, just don't like to see it happen. Mother Nature can sure remind you quickly how really small we are and what really is important in life.

Hi...FYI bumper or decorative chroming is a corrosion / dressing up finish that doesn't wear well. Hard croming does wear and is the type of chroming used to rebuild aircraft engine cylinders and hydraulic cylinders. A hydraulic repair shop could probably point you in the right direction. Also, I was wondering, if you were with the firearm while the shop was doing the work, would it then be legal for them to work on it?

Use industrial hard chrome only.
Bumper chroming is layered. First copper plated ,then nickel plated
and finally chrome plated. It will eventually peel !
Hard chrome is electrolytical also, but only chrome and much more durable.
Certain acids can damage or remove any chrome.
Check it out first on the net. Hydraulic cylinders are always hard chromed.
