Hey,

I tried searching but I'm horrible at it.

Just picked up a norinco 1911 9mm
I want to get it refinished in a mirror like finish , I'm thinking hard chrome.

Is there any shops in the bc, Vancouver area that anyone knows that does this?
Avg pricing?

Also. Am I allowed to disassemble the gun completely and take it piece by piece to say a automotive plating shop to get it done? I have searched and found mixed opinions... Best to just call my CFO?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hard chrome is closer to brushed stainless for looks. You will want someone to do a nickle plating job for that mirror finish.
A pistol is basically the frame in the eyes of the law, it will need a STATT to bring it anywhere.

Mirror finishes show up every little fingerprint and mark and then they look like crap, so you spend more time polishing than shooting

getting a top quality Hard Chrome job on your pistol will cost $250-$350, not worth it on a Norc...sorry. If you are really keen on this path, shoot your Nork for a few months and if you still have the bug, sell your Norc and buy a nickel Colt 1911 for 900$ and you will be miles ahead than going down the money pit road.

I had no idea it costed so much. I saw in another thread it was 90-120$ which isn't bad for just a cheap cool lookin toy

I'll definitely be looking at others as mentioned!

Thanks

You might find some cheaper refinishers, but beware, you get what you pay for. Find a reputable gunsmith who offers this service. For a Norc, it might cost the same as buying another Norc. Your gun, your choice of what you want to do.

You would be better off to buy a nice stainless steel gun and have it polished. The guy is full of sh*t on the other thread. A $90 chrome job from a shop that chromes bumpers? Google hard chrome guns, or better yet, call this guy and ask him. He will explain the difference between a $90 bumper chrome and a $250 hard chrome job.
