I can't seem to find this Federal Ammo 20G ammo SKU for sale anywhere in the country. Does someone know where I can place an order for some?

If you live in Toronto area, you can buy this off the shelf at the Bass Pro in Vaughan. I was there maybe two weeks ago and they had around a dozen boxes.

I don't think the shells have to say 'Turkey' on them in order to use them for turkey, no? Why wouldn't a magnum load of #5 or #6 work?

Yup, anything lead works, but depends on distance shot, gun etc. Pattern is everything out at 40+ yards. I have a buddy who reloads his own in 7/8oz. Most turkey loads are usually copper plated and different wads so the shot column stays together until further out along before opening with buffer so shot goes where you want it.

Federal Heavyweight is a non-toxic load heavier than lead (HTL) load. The fact that it is HTL and the Flight Control Wad make it hold a pretty tight pattern out to 40 yards. It's one of the better turkey specific loads for 20 gauge. Unfortunately, it's about $21.99 per box of five which is around $5 a shot after taxes. On the cheaper side is the Federal Premium Mag-Shok (PFC258F 4/5/6) which still uses the Flight Control Wads but uses Copper Plated Lead instead of a HTL load. It costs $12.99 for a box of ten.

Also, Federal suggests not using a ported choke with any load that uses the Flight Control wad unless the choke is designed with that wad in mind.

That's right, I picked up a couple boxes of 20ga around that period. Suggest also check stores such as CT (Belleville), Williams Arms (Port Perry), Al Simmons (Hamilton), Shooters Choice (Waterloo) etc. Epps too, they almost always have variety of stuff in stock.

FYI, Hornady now offers Turkey loads that (they claim) are designed to perform specifically with IC or Mod chokes out to 50 yds.

All that said, boils down to testing first on a pattern board to determine which choke/load combo may work the best.
