I found that 410 full choke will harvest snowshoehares cleanly 30 yards 7.5 shot 2 1/2 inch shell. And a Burris Fastfire is nice help at duskie hours and lots of shadow.
I'm surprised that you asked this question.
So I will try to help you out.
I have shot hundreds of rabbits.
Here is my favourite load.
I use a 7mm REm magnum with 130 grain bullets at 3300 fps.
If you shoot them in the guts.
The rabbit will have no head left.
And your rabbit will be already cleaned.
Just kidding!!!
Thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up ordering a bolt action 22lr. I might branch out and try some of the other ones recommended in the future when I have a bit more cash on hand. Now I just need to pick out a scope for it. I'm thinking either a 2-7x or a 2.5-10x if i find one thats not all that bulky.
If you ever get the chance to hunt cottontails over hounds i suggest you do it. Use a scattergun not a rifle though. Most fun you can have hunting is rabbits over hounds
