anyone hunt blacktails around harison lake. I have a friend who owns some land around harison river and he sais i can hunt it if I want. I am from the charlottes but thought it may be fun to try something else. Not looking for your favorite spot just some general info on the area. Is there any good bucks around here. cheers Chris P.

Are you talking Harrison Lake in the Fraser Valley?

I don't think the hunting's the best in that area although a friend of my brother's shot a couple of decent bucks on Mount Woodside which is on the east side of the Harrison River.

Lots of guys I knew got deer farther up the lake on both the east and west sides but certainly nothing amazing. Lots of spikes and two points. I don't know if it's just hunted out but most local guys seem to head out of the area to do their hunting.

The terrain is also pretty rough in a lot of places and much of the access is gated. You'd need to find out who's gates they are and try to get keys. A lot of companies don't like to give out keys if they can help it since there's a lot of equipment damage that happens up there.

Hunting the rain forrest jungle around Harrison Lake is difficult. Best is to find clear cuts with some new plants, particular if the area has been slash burned, since the deers prefer to eat these new plants over other areas, and simple watch the perimeter around these clear cuts at dusk and dawn.

I also found that often during rain, these elusive rain forrest deer will come out and bed down in the more open areas of clear cuts, with some cover of new trees.

I also have had succesful deer hunts in the rain forrest by using the stalking method.
