Yeah, Handi's are going to become a hot commodity as they are no longer made. I watch the E&E all the time looking for a Handi in 22Mag. I have one in 30-06 and 223 already.

Last June (when I was back and forth with them on a Remington Warranty issue) I spoke with Gravel Agency about H&R rifles...as I was wanting to know whether or not a 17M2 would ever be made again. This was their reply;

H&R discontinued all their single shot rifles for 2015. They are currently working on a new receiver.

Cordially,

I would take that to mean "don't overspend on a used one" at the moment. :) However...no 17M2s either. I'm done searching for one of those. The only ones I've found...guys want $75 over what they cost new, even on semi-beat-up specimens.

I've got several h&r's (22lr, 22mag, 17hmr and 22 k hornet) and aside from the 17 hmr not grouping well I haven't had an issue with them and they're as accurate as I can be.

Probably going to be plastic with safety recalls now. There was nothing wrong with the old hnr. They should have kept it that way

You mean with the exception of a crappy trigger and ill-fitting stock? :) Kidding aside, I've come very close to buying one on a few occasions...but holding the rifle...it didn't really impress. I've shot a 22WMR one, and it was decently accurate. I've looked on/off for one in 17M2 and 22Hornet. Both difficult to find, neither I'll overpay for. Neat rifles...wonder what the new versions will be like.

I had a 17HMR and that thing was a LASER! Sold it only because it became a safe queen.
The guy I sold it too was MORE then impressed with it.
I guess I should have kept it...... :(

I got a youth handy for my grandson, and was very disappointed with it. It was too heavy for him and shot all over the place. I ended up getting rid of it and letting him use my Marlin 795, with close supervision. The 2 of us went through a pile of ammo using the 795 and a model 60.

I have the h+r sportster single shot in .22 wmr. Very impressed for such an inexpensive rifle. The trigger is heavy but breaks cleanly, I can deal with that. Very accurate, but it prefers heavier bullets. I use a lot of 40gr because it's more common, but it really shines with 50gr loads. Forget using 30gr bullets if you want to hit something.

Both easy fixes. Sure they're not Cooper quality but they were cheap reliable guns that you could throw behind the seat and not worry about. I've had enough of them and new had an issue. I've sold everyone for more than I paid for it. Sadly I don't own any right now but if a good deal comes up ill buy it. Wish they came in 25/35

I love the "handiness" of these guns, but my .30-30 Handirifle has a TEN POUND TRIGGER PULL. Almost have to "hang yourself off" the trigger to get it to release.

It's funny you say that, as I have a 20ga H&R that has a trigger pull that would rival a high end target rifle.
