I picked up my H&R Handi-Rifle in .223 and started with an 8lb trigger pull. I played around with it and put a ton of ammo through it and it ate everything up but my groups weren't very good, I'd get 2inch at 100 yard, sometimes less but 2in was the standard I found. Once I started reloading I got seriously into working to shrink those group sizes. I found I was loading my 55gr Vmax to very long OAL as the leade on my rifle was very long and it was a large jump to the rifling. But once I loaded longer to match and sit 0.015" off the lands, my groups shrunk and after getting a gunsmith to lighten the trigger down to 2lbs, and make it nice and crisp, my groups have shrunk to 3/4in so as long as you can spend the time and put some work into it, they will shoot pretty well. Recently gotten into longer ranges and started shooting around 3in groups at 400yards. Next project is to tighten those up.
