Harris Bipod and swivel attachment

I installed a Harris Bipod and 2A adaptor, which I epoxyed into the USGI glass stock, sometime ago, but I was wondering if the two "tangs" (term? :redface:) that grab the 2A adaptor at one end are strong enough to mount a swivel and sling at the other end? From pics it looks like the holes are meant to receive a swivel, but is it strong enough to carry the weight of the rifle?

Yup, you bet it is strong enough. That's what it was designed for.

How & where did you mount the stud?

I was just looking at that, and was wondering about the hole in the forestock just forward of the factory sling swivel.

I was thinking of a small plate of "something sturdy on the inside for the stud to grab...

Hey, I just thought of this, I had a guy I know years ago make something in his Dad's Machine shop for my AR15 ... a large flat nut which fit between the ribs inside the forestock. The stud was a piece with a flat ring to over lap the hole in the forestock....

This is what I did...and please forgive me for my inexperience and lack of terminology...when I did it...:D I drilled out the original sling mount rivets, dremmeled out the forward of the two original rivets to fit the larger Harris 2A flange head

...and then secured it with JB weld. The Harris Bipod clips into the 2A head and is VERY solid.

That's exactly what I did and to me seems like the best option I've seen.

I've seen 2 Norinco stocks split because of adapters mounted in the drainage hole.
Of course, some of those Norinco stocks break if you look at them the wrong way.

Would that be because there was no support put around the hole? Like a plate on the inside to disperse the torque....



The AR one I mentioned was machined from scratch, but more or less looks something that is above... the small flat nut was big enough to fit between the ribs of the heat deflector.
