Has any body loaded the Barnes Tipped TSX bullet in their 7mm mag or 7X57 or similar

I was thinking of loading up the 140 grain bullet in my 7mm mag or my 7X57. My 7mm mag rifle currently likes the Nosler Accubond over 62 grains of IMR4350. I get just under 3100 fps and they have worked well for deer and bear. Very accurate load.

Would the Barnes TXS bullet behave about the same. How much different is an all copper bullet in load development and kill performance ?

These tipped bullet really have my interest.

TSX bullets do not behave like lead. They have less bore friction and some guns apparently do not like them at all. That being said no bullet behaves exactly the same as another unless it's a quirk of the gun.

You'll have to do load development with them again and they usually take higher powder charges than lead.
 
Myself and my hunting partners have used the 140gr TTSX in the 280AI, and the 7mmremmag with great results. They perform well on game, and they are accurate in our rifles.
 
I use the ttsx in both my Rem7mm mag and 7wsm in 160g over imr-4831 I think around 62g's . I didn't spend to much time tunning the loads at a buck a bullet ,but they both shoot 1moa or better. Before I started reloading I used Federals with txs for my 7wsm all 1 shot kills. The Barnes loads are typically a little hotter then jacketed bullets.
 
140 ttsx in my 7mm rem mag and in my 7 rum. Both deliver sub moa and work very well on both near and very distant game. Great all round bullet for my hunting.....moose deer elk bear.
 
I use 140gr ttsx in my 7mm Wsm and found they are very accurate and perform great on deer(all that I hunt). I load my rounds using Magpro powder.

I've found R17 to give fantastic results with the 140gr TTSX. I've also seen that the TTSX often requires less powder to achieve the same velocity as the TSX. Other than that, load development has been pretty much transferrable between many lead bullets, and the TSX/TTSX.
 
I've picked up some Barnes TTSX in 120gr, 140gr and 150gr. Admittedly:redface:, so far I haven't really got much further than just trying a few loads, so far in my 7x61 S&H.

I have a 7x57R in a Brno OU combination gun I may try them in also.
 
I load 140 TTSX in my 7mm rem mag. Short story made long. I bought the rifle and only had these 140 TTSX to load so I loaded up 40 rounds all of the same powder charge and hit the range to try out my new rifle. At first I was very disappointed, it would only do 2.5-3" groups at 100 M but after I fired 20 rounds through the rifle it tightened right up to 1" groups once the barrel was fouled. That's just the way my rifle likes these 140 ttsx's. I need to have about 20 rounds through it and then it will shoot them nicely. I've never tried any other load development with this rifle.
