So I already have a 308 with a 3 and a 5 shot magazine. I just ordered a t3 in 7mm rm and would like a spare Mag for it also. I also wouldn't mind having a longer magazine for the 308 so I can load my 168's a bit closer to the rifling. My question is can I modify my 5 shot Mag by shortening the block at the back of the magazine? I may need a new follower but I'm not sure. All advice is appreciated.

As Hometownhero above mentions you need to pull the bolt stop and buy a long action magazine (30-06 works great for .308 cases). Then you dont need to screw around and break your .308 magazine like I did.

Purchase a long mag and bolt stop. You can try to mod the bolt stop but because most of them are molded you risk breaking it once you do the mod.

No idea how you would break it. It's pretty solid. I did mine in 5 min with a dremel. If you do it right it will be the exact same as the one you. It.
