Has anyone bought, shot, or handled the newest Mini-14 Target?

I'm curious if anyone has seen or shot one of these beasts. If it was actually accurate I'd probably look at grabbing one.

PS- This is all from the Ruger website - lol ... a little prophaganda, but I thought would provide some insight on this rifle.

Ruger Mini-14® Target Rifles are rugged ceterfire autoloading rifles that provide reliable performance with the following features:
** Heavy, hammer forged stainless steel barrel with recessed target crown.
** Adjustable harmonic dampener to tune rifle for minute of angle accuracy.
** Laminated black target stock with spacers for adjusting length of pull by up to 1-1/2 inches.
** Wide flat forend for easy holding or resting on sandbags.
** Non-slip grooved rubber recoil pad.
** Improved receiver with rounded corners.
** Simple, rugged Garand-style breechbolt locking system, with a fixed-piston gas system and self-cleaning moving gas cylinder.
** Shipped with stainless steel scope rings, an $80.00 value.
** Chambered in the popular .223 Rem. cartridge.

There's a guy on one of the U.S. based forums who has one. Promptly sent it out to have the trigger done. Before he shot it. I told him he should shoot it first.
MSRP is $995 USD. Way over priced(So is a regular one). I doubt they've made it up here yet either. I wouldn't touch one until there's more 'user' reports. Gun rag writers don't count.

Yep, they are here in Canada, I held one at P&D recently. The only impression I got from it was "man, this thing sure is heavy."

I did think the weight would be an issue - they are almost 10lbs - not really required for a .223 - but I do like I thumbhole stock - and with a nice big scope and a big mag - she might not be the ugly girl at the dance.

Ruger should just scrap the Mini-14 design and start over from scratch. This rifle doesn't look much different than my ford escort would with a spoiler and a bigger exhaust pipe.

LOL... nice mental picture !:D

How is Mr. T of the A-Team ever gonna hit anything with this new Mini-14 ? Thankfully he's got the pipes to carry one of these new heavier , improved units around.

Reality check:

Is this a firearms forum or a fashion designer club?:p
Armani spring line of beautiful stocks is out yet?
Should I wear my Azarro euo de cologne with my new Christian Dior designed black rifle?:D
Have you heard of the new line of mercenary wear from James Holt?
Just picturing scenes of 'Devil wears Parada', this is becoming 'Devil only carries and shoots Parada!

People I am getting tired of you whining about: this handgun is ugly, that rifle is ugly, the other one is a beauty nonsense;
These are weapons (even in sporting sense), their main design objective is to be functional, reliable and accurate and by the way it does not look that bad either.

That meaning that I am getting one? Maybe if I get a chance to shoot it but probably not since it will be way overprized for the fluffy design of mini-14.

By the way, M14/M305 are not that pretty either. You've just gotton used to them or because of beauty in eyes of beholder.

:bangHead:
Now your turn to bash my opinion.

I never said it would be a prettier rifle, I said it would be a nicer rifle.
