Has anyone built their own AR's before?

Thank you all for your input: I understand that building ARs from scratch is not a money saver, but the whole point of building is for fun! Plus I want an AR built exactly customized to my needs/wants. Both aesthetically and functionally.

You can tell when someone has built their own rifle as when anyone else looks at it they c how spotless it is. I do a complete clean after i goto the range. I look at how the parts are wearing i clean it and lube it. Just one of the nice things of doing a build you just start to care about it and you dont want your work to get spoiled.

I highly recommend assembling your own AR. I did it and except for torquing the barrel down and drilling for the front sight block. I did it myself. if you want to get a great understanding of how the platform works, DO IT.

Hi CTC Supplies! As I'm scavenging for parts I came across some really nice parts on your website but I'm afraid they may be out of stock by the time I save up my money...I was wondering would it be possible to put in a deposit for a lay-away with you guys?

Thanks!

I just built my first AR on June and all the info I got was from Youtube videos and forums. particularly ar15.com. It wasn't the perfect AR but here are some tips from a rookie:
1. I wouldnt say vice + upper receiver blocks are absolutely required but they make the job exponentially easier.
2. An AR stock wrench and the lower receiver block are optional as well.
3. When positioning your gas block before drilling or tightening the set screw, tighten it slowly and make sure it won't move forward.
4. Cover the barrel with the barrel condom (comes with most barrels) when installing the rail.

We are TAPPED OUT of a lot of stuff - I have a lot of gear waiting to come but it's either sitting in the US or getting the rubber glove treatment at CBSA.

The current incoming shipment should bring us up to levels that we normally would have.

Yes we can do lay-away - please let me know and we can arrange something!
