Has anyone ever tried fitting an M14-style flash hide on a mini 14?

I'm interested in fitting a M14-style flash hider on to my mini 14, and I am wondering about how I could go about it?

I have two options here:

I could make one from scratch or,

I could buy a m14 flash hider and find a way to get it to fit on my rifle.

Man, you're ambitious...

Choate Recoil Compensator for Mini-14 made of solid steel, bath blued or S.S. Both models sight looks like the original M-14 Sight. The compensator is permanently attached to the gun barrel by a 1/8 inch spring steel roll pin. We suggest this unit be installed by a gunsmith.

But maybe that's just me.

The barrel diameter of a Mini-14 is much smaller than that of an M305/M14/M1A. So a milsurp flash hider won't fit. Buy the Choate. It won't need any spacer that I suspect would be too thin to actually work.
