Shot their modern sporter in the wild and been "caught" by rcmp, local police etc? Has anyone been pushed on this grey area regarding these rifles? Excuse my ignorance as I have not followed the latest and greatest drama here on cgn regarding all the stupid guns bans.

But I know for fact these guns were banned ad hoc via the FRT system and were never banned by OIC or law. So I was just curious if anyone had come across a police officer while enjoying their rifle.

If so, wtf would happen? The cop would most likely look up the rifle in the FRT then see that it was "prohib" take the rifle and charge you... no?

Thanks boys.

A while back I emailed the CFO about the use of the MS, MH, MV & the TSR knock off for hunting and sporting purposes by a PAL holder. I brought up that they were not included in the May 1st, 2020 OIC (SOR/2020-96). I Stated that the only source stating they are Prohib'd is the FRT which states it's not a legal instrument & to refer SOR/98-462, which they are not listed in. The response I got back was to inquire with my provincial Fish and Wildlife office. I forwarded the email chain to that office as well as our safety minister. Crickets from Fish & Wildlife, so I resent it and still nothing. The safety minister's office got back to me and directed me to inquire with the CFO on the matter...

Some of the LEO members have said to talk directly to your local department to get their blessing, as it's apparently up to the individual departments.

When push comes to shove they are NR by law, but as TV had mentioned it's probably better not to push your luck to save yourself a headache from uninformed authorities. I do shoot my sporter frequently...but I try and do so discretely on private land versus a public range just to avoid any headaches.

I also added this in the email as well that I sent:

"The Modern series and the SAI TSR were specifically added to the withdrawn G-46 amendment to Bill C-21, which in itself is currently going through its due process and not law as of right now. That is an admittance that these 4 firearms are not prohibited firearms."

Like Bird Dog said, I also keep a copy of the OIC and the most recent copy of SOR/98-462 with my MS, along with original FRT documentation. Stick to private land.
