maybe its just me but, i have never seen a foward assist knob break off like this.
i had the rifle on its side on the bench, and when i rolled it over i heard the knob roll accross the bench. the rifle has yet to be fired and was in mint shape.

Never seen that happen before in that way...have heard of the roll pin snapping and the F/A coming out but not breaking in half like that...thankfully its an easy fix...just a pain.

Does anyone actually use the forward assist?

Personally I have never seen that before, but all mechanical component can and will break, it is just a fact of life.

That's one of ours.. I would think it would take a lot more than laying it on its side to break. But it's broke.

Never seen or heard of that happening... it's a new one for us. I'll have the shop send you a replacement ASAP.

All mechanical components will break...eventually. They are not supposed to when the rifle is unfired and BNIB. That being said I have never heard of or seen this with any other NEA rifle thus far. It would appear this F/A was of poor construction for whatever reason but I would not go as far as to say that all NEA components fall under this category!!

Haters are still gonna hate though! Is that Easy I hear coming?

I just took a selection of FA's and viced them. None broke like this when given a very technical "hammer stress test". Either this piece took a fair blow, or there was a imperfection in the component. The break looks like it came from lateral pressure in the picture, and I see no pockets in the metal.

Either way, broke is broke and we have a lifetime warranty on the parts. The customer has been contacted, we have his info and a replacement is being sent out today.

I pointed it out because it is super freaking obvious, aside from the pics PBR has already posted of the rifle.

Let’s see if we can play this one a little different, instead of bashing the mfg lets see if we can answer the OPs question.

I have never seen or heard of this, but I understand that it could happen.

Hurray NEA.. I applaud how you guys handled that.. Not just replacing the part, but simple facts ignoring the trolling... Professional.

If I had any doubts in the past.. Gone now...

problem solved... thanks NEA...

this is one more reason why i like my NEA 7.5 slabside so much...aside from basic training, i dont ever remember using my F/A on any of my rifles..

I broke two Diemaco/Colt Canada ones with very similar breaks while I was in the CF.
I also broke three bolt catches

But I broke way more ELCAN's ;)

It happens.
