has anyone here ever seen this happen?

I broke two Diemaco/Colt Canada ones with very similar breaks while I was in the CF.
I also broke three bolt catches

But I broke way more ELCAN's ;)

It happens.

As a gunplumber in the CF I haven't seen a lot of forward-assists break. I've seen a few, but it's surprising how not a lot of stuff break on our rifles when they are mistreated in ways that I can't imagine doing to my own rifles. :p

Im wondering if NEA will ship complete rifles from the factory with the slick side upper?? If that is possible I could very well be sold on my next purchase! Im looking for a 14.5 or 10.5 (still deciding).

Man, there are a lot of us on here. ;) 6 years as a weapons tech, and I think I replaced... 2? FA's. Both were the classic infantry "It was like that when I picked it up" excuse.

Haha yeah.

I went at a range here and told one of the ROs what my job was. He didn't look impressed and just said "oh, another one of those...".

Are NEA pics deceiving or is the free float rail "smaller" where it meets the upper and larger in diameter at its front?? It makes it look as though the top of the rail is straight and aligned with the upper and the bottom of the rail is on an angle!

Would this be caused by the way it clamps to the upper or am I just losing my mind?

Looks like an enbrittlement fracture to me. Nevertheless, the diameter is not insignificant. Unless the part was already cracked before it was installed, I can;t see how laying the rifle on its side could have caused that fault.

Now maybe if it was DROPPED on its side from, say, 6 ft onto concrete... maybe.

i have both the slabside and the F/A uppers in 7.5 from NEA and the slabside is a ###y beast....
im going to trick it out in the next few days, then i will post a few pics...

here are the twins

I cant even guess. Our dealers would be the ones to ask. We ship to our distributor, they ship to dealers. We dont know what each dealer has for backorders, we just try and fill monthly commitments.

Could be as much as a few months right now. We've drastically upped our production capacity, so wait times are shrinking.

oh damn... they make slab sided ones too? wish I had known that before I got mine, shave a bit of weight off...

I never used my FA either... I cant even think of a gun besides the AR that still has one.
