Has anyone here ordered a custom Cooper?

So, it took 20 months, did it, from placing the order to receiving the rifle? That's quite a bit longer than generally advertised. Was there a reason for this--a bottleneck somewhere in the process?

Indeed, it was ordered in August 2015. It was a touch longer than anticipated, but within reason. Sounds like Cooper got very busy around that time.

The gun will unfortunately be going back, so for any of those that loved the light wood, you could possibly have a chance at making the rifle your own. The grain is quite a bit more interesting than a lot of Cooper stocks.

My posts here are just a further unbiased documentation of the experience thus far, and are not meant to be interpreted in any negative light.

My comments above where meant in jest.
Sounds like your keeping an open mind over this.
Either way, It is a nice rifle and hopefully the wood grows upon you and shoots even better than the .4''
The CZ is a shooter ..in that it has the ability to shoot gophers with ease and farther than I can see .
I'm selling it to offset the cost of the Kimber I bought from another CGNutter last month.
Best Regards,
Rob

Not sure how this comment will be interpreted, but I've built more than a few log bed frames and found
that some grains reverse their logic when stain or finish is applied.
Meaning the dark is a tighter grain thus absorbing less product.
The lighter grain soaks in more of what is applied and becomes darker.

I think I'd be more than happy with this stock if it was my project.

Thanks for the thread GD7, sure wish I could afford something this unique.

The rifle has gone back to PR, so it is no longer mine to display photos of. It has beautiful wood in it's own right, no doubt it will find an owner who really appreciates it.

On the original question, I ordered a Cooper 57M 22lr Custom Classic with many extra features, and took just shy of 2 years. I stuck with the AAA Claro and it turned out very nice, if you like a lighter colored stock finish. (Wasn't worth the extra cost to upgrade wood) fit and finish was exceptional, accuracy was as advertised, and shoots better than test target with SK Standard Plus. Most factory testing seems to be with SK Midas Plus (very expensive to shoot regularly). SK Match is great also.
I shoot my gun mostly from 50yrd, and it's amazing!
I'm just in the process of ordering another Custom Classic from Clay, he has been great to deal with
Clay if your reading this, please send me my quote!

If you want a show piece stock, your better off ordering your 57M with synthetic stock, then send it to Canyon Creek for restocking, best money spent.
I shoot my guns not just look at them, so no need for unbelievable wood, just excellent will do for me
CheersDale Z
