Has anyone looked into using 7.62X51 in their Canadian RFB?

Obviously these rifles were chambered and produced as .308 to bring them to the Canadian Market since Obama just couldnt sleep at night if we were using cheap ammo....so Im just curious if anyone has looked into how reliably/safely they can run the 7.62X51 round thru them ? Has anyone actually emailed Kel Tec or Vault to see if this is ok to do?

I don't know about the RFB but I have been using 7.62x51 NATO ammo on my AR-10, M14 and Valmet M78 (sold this one) without any problems. Actually, the .308W has SAAMI maximum average peak pressure that is higher than the NATO specs. I would suggest to keep the ammo to lighter than 180 gr bullets, though.

Ran some ivi and south African surplus through mine, it worked fine. Accuracy was somewhat sub par even with the ivi was only getting 3" at 100 (my pet load averages 1" and under in this rifle)

7.62 is fine for the RFB, the Canadian version is chambered the same as the U.S. Version. It is stamped .308 to meet ITAR regs.

Is it though? I thought I read somewhere that they chambered it as a .308 because they didnt want some dickwad stateside to say they were lying. I know Typically they're interchangeable, (especially since the RFB wasnt designed as a .308) I plan on shooting .308 thru it, but thought it might be cheaper to break it in with some surplus instead.

Those that are reloading... is 1" the best 100m group your getting? And what kind of loads are you working up?

I haven't got my RFB yet, but I checked out the loads on this forum.

I would try bullets in the 165-168 gr range with some Varget.

I heard some people were getting GOOD results with 165gr Nosler BT and Varget. MOA and better possible.
