Hi nutz!

I'm looking to pickup a Browning Maxus Hunter in the 12 Ga, 3.5" Chamber. Locally (Vancouver) the best price I've found is 1499.00, but saw it on lebaron.ca for $1354.00... Has anyone ordered from them before? I called and they do have the one I am looking for in stock.

Just not sure if I should spend the extra 100 to get it locally or not... what do you guys think?

I've ordered a number of times and other the their courier not being able to find me.. and not always having stock of what I was ordering I've got no complaints..

Is that price with shipping included? If not find out how much more that is going to be. Once everything is added up maybe not such a big difference, plus no waiting for delivery and if something ever goes wrong you can talk face to face with your dealer. Sometimes dealing locally pays back in that the next time you need something he might remember you as the guy that bought that shotgun and give you a break on your next purchase. He also might remember the guy that bought from Le Baron. Just my .02

Hey... the price didn't include shipping....

I also read their return policy:

"8. Returns and Exchanges
Please take note of the following restrictions:
Merchandise will be accepted for exchange or refund within 15 days of the purchase date. All products must be returned prepaid in their original, unused condition, with all corresponding literature, manuals and packaging in-tact. Mail order returns will only be accepted with a valid return authorization number, which can be obtained by contacting the mail order department. Parcels returned without authorization are subject to a 10% handling charge. Sorry, our retail stores cannot accept returns made through our mail order division.

No returns or exchanges will be accepted on firearms, ammunition, optics, components, GPS, software, undergarments, mouthpieces (game calls, whistles, hydration units, diving equipment), or fuel."

That almost puts me off right there.... what if there's a problem with the gun? I'm SOL. I think I may deal locally to have someone I can work with face to face.... I think you're right, it'll pay dividends in the end.

I've ordered a bunch of reloading and other accessories from them -- they don't ship as fast as Frontier or P&D, but I did not have any issues.

I have ordered a few guns from them. One was scratched up on the receiver, and I called them immediately upon noticing. They took it back no problem, all they asked was if I fired it. The lady said it must have been a display gun that got mixed in with the new guns.

I have ordered from them plenty and never had a problem. They are brisk to the point of being rude on the phone, but the products are exactly as you expect and I have never had an order messed up.

In the OP's case I'd buy local. The price for shipping will close the gap and building a relationship with a local store will never hurt.

You will probably get the same from just about any place you purchase from......

by the way, I don't know if it works for mail orders, but if you have there club card you get another 10% off items that are regularly priced...

it does....

Mail Order Customers: Please include your Club Le Baron Membership card number and expiry date with your order. (Orders must be shipped to Club Members address ONLY)

I first learned of LeBarons only 3 years back and have been dealing with them quite frequently. I have bought quite a number of guns through them, all via mail order. No issues, good service.

Dropped in on the Montreal storefront last week while passig through. Can't say the store itself was anything special, but I am definitely pleased with the online store and shipping.

LeBaron prices have always been very competitive provided thay have the required item in stock. Lack of adequate inventory has been/is apparently a chronic issue at LB! :)

But they also offer annual club membership ($25 cost) that discount all regular priced items by 10% .....moreover, over the past few years, they have also started to waive taxes on items during certain periods of the year. Easy to do the math in terms of savings if one is planning on dropping a good chunk of money on a purchase particularly during the tax waiver promo.

Personally, I do not shop for any firearms there (apart from a single purchase some years back). However, I do acquire all my fishing tackle from that establishment.

For a long period their credibility pertinent to customer service had always been under a spotlight :) - and with adequate justification from what I've observed on many occasions (to date, I've always been a very regular visitor to both stores in the GTA).

Having said that, I find the attitude has turned quite positive over the recent past period. Some of their store or more appropriately business policies may not be upto standard - the staff have nothing to do with that obviously. I have personally never had any issue or conflict with the employees over at any of the two stores. Never ordered anything online though.

Admittedly, many times I had nursed the thought of making my firearms purchases at LB but had always turned towards Epps as they have treated me as a customer ought to be treated since the first day I had stepped into their store. Besides, no retailer in ON has a diverse inventory (new/used) firearms such as that found at Epps. :D

In store there attitude sucks. However their prices can not be beat. Especially when they have a no tax sale which will probably be next week with bass pro`s fall classic. You can buy a gun, not pay tax and buy one of their 25 dollar memberships and save another 10%. Great prices. Inventory sucks so make sure you call before you order.

I must be lucky, I deal with the guys at the Woodbine branch and always receive good cheerful service and if they haven`t got any item in stock, they do their best to get it for me and then call and let me know it`s in. I enjoy spending my money there.!!!

I have been purchasing items from LeBarons since the late 1960's. Yes they have been around that long.

Without writing a small novel about there customer service and policies my advice is to buy your gun locally. You will save yourself well more than $100. worth of aggravation if there is an issue with the purchase.

I mail ordered off them once. As Grand Dad used to say "once bitten, twice shy".

I only shop there in person.
