Has anyone "Pimped" a Yugo SKS?

Meh, I don't lose much sleep over people modifying their sks. You're not exactly starting out with a Rolls Royce (even if it is a yugo).
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my sks's and I believe everybody should own one. But there isn't exactly a shortage of them right now.

I have to agree with you. For Christ sakes the SKS in what ever make is only a few hundred dollar rifle and it will be that way for years to come. For every Russian, Chinese or Yugo SKS that is modified there will be one to take its place that is not. I know what some of the purists are going to say.....just look at the Enfield, the SKS of yesterday. I have two original Enfields that I purchased 30 years ago for $25.00 each and looking at the prices today I could have done better putting the money in the bank and collect compound interest. I will not lower myself to call anybody that modifies any firearm a Bubba..... It's their rifle and their preference.

Yeah I've seen such a beast in the EE, where it was painted green/brown camo and the grenade launcher removed with mojo sights intstalled. The seller wanted like $500 and all he got was few pages of angry CGNers blasting him for his blasphemy. If anyone is considering to pimp one out, please do so..we like to sort out our local bubbas.

Was it Snot Green and Diarrea Brown? :D

Would those enfields happen to be unissued & in the original finish? They would be worth $700- 1000 to the right person if they where. Besides, the total enfield production is way higher then sks production.

did you bother to do a compound calculation before making that statement ?

cos a $25 GIC at a bank 30 years ago at a rate of 4% interest is only $81.08 (before tax on interest) today . at a pretty low tax bracket of 15% you will take home only $69.

are you willing to sell those two LE for $69 each ?

You have to factor in the interest rates in the early 80's that were pretty high on a Canada Savings Bond, over 20% IIRC.

But then Credit Card and Car Loan rates were sky high too.

Keep in mind that the nice russian sks wont be available forever, the unrefurb,non-frankenpinned ones or better the unissued ones will become scarce. Ofc the value wont go to the top tomorrow but for peoples who appreciate them in the best possible condition, they will always be valuable. Even the 1949 that Westrifle have, even if they are painted refurb, in my opinion cannot be compared to vast refurb dated 1950 or younger because those 1949 with spike bayonet are really really scarce. Would be blasphemy to not keep them the way they are even if they have gone refurbed once. Ofc its the choice of everyones what to do with their rifle but its shame to not keep them the way they are.....

OK , lets use canada savings bond rates , the hyper-interest rate has been wipped out by the low rate of the last 9 years, last year the CSB paid .4% , yes, thats less than half of one percent.

the average interest in a CSB in the last 19 years is 4% and the 11 years before is about 10% , thats average out to be 6.2% .

so the $25 CSB is still $151 today. after tax is $128 .

What if it was Nortel and Bell Stock from 1980 to 2000, before the crash.
How many times did it split?

Just stop with the fricken math people...

Fact is if you bubba your yugo SKS you will regret it later...or at the least years later someone else will find it in a used gun rack at a gun store and look at it and say; Oh man why did someone do that?

You forgot to mention the change in barrel harmonic's, was that 73 HZ or 85 HZ..... can't remember.

when will people learn? leaving money in banks is not the way to get ahead, they are using your money to make money. you have plenty of time to buy GIC and CSB when you retire.

sorry R, i will now shut up, please return to your regular programming.lol.

What about Calgary Real Estate from 1980 to 2010 vs sks (pimped or not) and vs money in the bank?

Oh you had to lay that bait out... :D

OK think about sustainability.

Sure ones home in Calgary is now worth far more now then it was a few years ago, but also so up went the tax base, cost of living and the prices of all the other houses in the area so now the only chance to buy another house after selling the one you have is to leave the area.

So like the Calgary house if you have a yugo SKS in original condition, then hold onto it because you will probably not be able to buy another without having to pay an exaggerated overinflated price.

Ladies,

Keep your Milsurp rifles all Original, No Bubba-ing or Pimping.
The answers were as expected.
You passed the test this time.

Mr. Coyote Ugly, you made my day....maybe you should be reprimanded for trolling. :DThe SKS collectors have a name for people that modify the SKS and that is "BUBBA". I think the collectors need a name. How about "HECTORS" as in "Hector the Collector" What do you think........:D
