Has anyone seen Motiuk's SA80/L85 NR project?

Has anyone seen @motiuk on instagram's project to build an NR SA80/L85?
What a mad-lad, I mean one could say "why?" but seeing the AR180 market exploding out of necessity it isn't quite so crazy to me.

I don't really know much about the rifle besides that it's a short stroke piston very AR looking rotating bolt on the new pattern guns.

Anyone have anything to chime in? Is this going to be in serial production after FRT classification nonsense is done?
 
Generally Motiuks projects are just to see FRT viability hes said before he doesn't have the capacity to see these projects to commercial release by himself but would partner with bigger companies if possible.

Hes just a guy that wants to see cool and different guns get a chance here.

It's literally just a bullpup AR180, and the only reason why they didn't get sued into the dirt was because Enfield was owned by the crown so the government said they could do whatever they wanted. If you can work out the tooling for the stamped steel receiver it's a pretty simple gun.
 
Im sure the UK will offer him a multimillion dollar contract and buy 250k units since someone finally made a functional L85
 
Someone in the states did a bunch of flats many years ago but no one wanted to build sa80 so the project died.

A Sa80 is just a primitive way to stick AR18 into a bullpup using 60's and 70's tech.

A modern low cost SA80 aka sticking AR18 into a bull pup config using much more economical aluminum extrusion tube has been around since the late 80's - it is developed for the Austrialian to compete against AUG which then turned into Bushmaster M17 and now it is the K&M M17.

The K&M is an interesting beast its almost a greatest hits of failed Australian military bids.

The Bushmaster M17s's overall frame with the Leader T2's triangular bolt design, the ultimate in cheap and easy to manufacture. Too bad they don't seem to make very many of them would like to get my hands on one of their .308 models eventually.
 
Yeh, a SA80A3 clone will be very cool, but getting the spec of the HK designs that made SA80 tick will be difficult. Unfortunately SA80 is not like other systems there are 3rd world licensed manufacturers who are happy to sell whatever left in the shop to whoever with dollars.

But if the idea is to dig out those 30 or so registered CA SA80 for a gut transfer, it probably will appeal to number of hardcore collectors. The original SA80 is not great, on the other hand those who are holding onto those 30 or so CA are probably at the age of hoping to leave some money behind instead of guns. It will be an interesting item that could fetch a hefty sum, if people are paying what I see for remanufactured G36 with non factory parts, it shouldn't be a problem .

On the other hand, giving money to Bermuda defence force may get some SA80A2 out of their hands..... This is something US guys like Century arms can pull off.
