Yup, it's yet another Bear defense thread.:kickInTheNuts:

The reason I ask is due to ballistics. I switched my fishing buddy from a 20inch Mossberg to a 14inch Fabarm. I understand I loss about 1000fps ish. Does that really matter?

We can discuss the pro/cons of it but I really want to know if any Bear have been taken with a 14inch shotgun.

I will still carry her as if I need her it will be a 1-3 shot super CQ situation.

Yup, another Bear thread...

1000 fps???

I think that is unlikely...Not sure, but it sure sounds like you may have an extra zero on there...I doubt the 6" orf barrel makes a difference.

But, by all means, buy a bear tag and bring your 14" shotgun, I'll video you shooting abear and we will find out.;)

Ahhhh 100fps makes more sense.

I am getting my CORE course done right now and should have my ticket very soon. I am/ was more of a bird hunter than a bear type hunter. I'll tag along and check it out anytime though! And I have a video camera!

Nope, never seen a bear carrying a 14" shotgun.

Boooo :D

I better start another thread as my shotgun barrel is only 12.5"! At the ranges we are talking, it makes no difference if the slug is travelling 200fps faster or slower - placement and slug design are FAR more important.
