It fits nicely in the hand, points naturally, is very well balanced , functions flawlessly (so far, only a few hundred rounds) is very easy to strip, has a fully supported chamber, has trapezoidal sights which take very little time in getting used to, has very little muzzle flip for a light gun due to the low bore axis, trigger feels good but not excellent, is basically a metal gun with plastic wrap, is ugly as heck....now getting emotive.... but in my opinion is one EXCELLENT little pistol. Much better overall gun than a glock, maybe even a better combat pistol than a sig p228 and I am a die hard sig fan. Not a lot are sold so support is not as good for the Steyr as it would be for other makes, but that is not a big concern to me as its not a $60,000 car.

I own an M9A1 and am pleased with it. I am a new shooter this is my first pistol. However I am having trouble with the sights. I was able to hit a 9mm ammo box with a glock 22(with custom sights) and a S&W 686 4 inch revolver with 38sp and 357 at 50 yards. But not with my M9 yet. I have ordered a delrin striker cup bushing and 4 pound striker spring from Big Taco on SteyrClub.com. I found that the stock striker spring bunches up on the guide causing some staging/creep. I am polishing some key internals apparently this makes a huge difference in the trigger. This thing is so easy to work on. I think its my trigger pull that is causing my poor aim. The reason I bought this gun was that it felt sooo good in my hand and you could tell that the machining was top notch. Also you can fire lead if you want to cast and the chamber is fully supported. All in all I am very pleased.

I had one put about 1500 rounds thu it; almost 3/4 of which were reloads. I tried my best to like it but I couldn't get it to function right with my reloads so I gave up on it. but the build quality was pretty good! and better than most plastic guns in that price range.
I tried Sailingvans gun & the main problem i found was the trigger, very rough & stagey. Sounds like hes got the right fix & i cant wait to try it again. The sights are weird, but should work well due to the precise point on the front site, Once i get use to them!
I have found that if you basically ignore the rear sight then problems sighting problems solve themselves. Found it more difficult when you consciously try and line them up.
Going to be doing the same trigger "fix" as Sailingvan.
