has anyone tried instaling one of the Magwedge quick rails on a VZ58?

Like the title says, Has anyone tried this? or tried to mod one to fit? Up late last night with the sick kids and the wheels started turning.

Magwedge rails for the VZ58 should be available fairly soon ... I have been sitting on the design for ages, but with the prohibition nonsense I held off until I could feel confident the platform had a future.

Are you kidding me... This is great news... Well not the you holding out on us bit, but the fact this might be a possibility...

I want one ASAP! I really want an optic back over the action area not up front and not on a side mount.

Is this going to be a reality or are you still on the fence? What if some of us preordered?

Well I will say this: if there is sufficient interest demonstrated here, I will move it forward in my manufacturing schedule.

I have tested the prototypes and had plans for production in the New Year. There are a few details to sort out, but these are all manufacturing details, not issues of fit or function. I am aware that this series of rifles does suffer from a fair amount of variation in dimensions, so I hope people will be a little forgiving. I have tested the rails on the 858 model and it has been successfully fitted to a CZ2000 as well.

If this will allow for an optic to go right over the ejection area of the rifle I am in for one. I really want to run a 1-4x optic on my CSA VZ58 to really bring this platform into a more multi use platform.

As for fitting would a simple solution be to make it to the largest sized rifle and allow end users to fit them to rifles that have a smaller space to work with? Alternatively make it to the smallest and use shims of some form? I am NOT a machinist or gun part maker for sure so I really have no idea on how you could do this. lol. Hopefully there is an easy solution for the tolerances of these rifles.

Do you have any pics to share? I really would like to ses how these look on a VZ58/CZ858 rifle.

Thanks for even considering moving ahead with this.

Hopefully others will chime in and want one too.

I do need to be careful as there are people who will copy your stuff at a drop of a hat ... and they read these forums.

I will talk to the lawyer and see how much I can reveal prior to production.

I fully understand.

I am excited to even hear that this is within the realm of possibility. I really love the VZ58 platform, the optics mounting issues are my only frustration with this gun. It looks like you could change that with this rail.

I am excited by the possibility of having a rail for my VZ58 rifle. :)

I'm guessing making these one at a time would be a no go...

I really don't want to go to the new 958 guns once they're out due to loss of quick take down and the safety rotation direction.

Your rail system would be perfect, especially if you could develop a full length upper rail that would replace the forend upper portion and continue back over the dust cover. That would be amazing if that could be done!

Well if you can make the rail still be able to use the rear iron sights then I am I 100% !!!!!!!!

I'll take ATLEAST 5 rails!!!!

interested and tagged.

especially if it does not interfere with the quick take down... not sure if that is possible as I'm not a machinist either.

I should emphasize that we have a few working prototypes as it stands, and have had them for some time.

All can be taken down quickly for cleaning, similarly to the SKS KwikRail. The have a similar grooved rail feature to allow the use of the front sight. The issue with iron sight use is that the rail must inevitably be set a bit higher than the original rear sights, and therefore will tend to place shots somewhat higher than with the original equipment. This can be overcome with a little practice and good old "Kentucky windage", but yes you will still be able to see the front sight.

Kind of like my red dot mounted with a scout mount where the rear sight was. A little practice and adjustments (elevation) brings the target aim point in-line with the front sight. Well.....almost.

Awesome, but what I'm trying to grasp is do you need to remove the rear sight for the rail to attach to the rifle???

Or is the rear ladder sight still able to stay on the rifle while mounting the cz kwik rail??
