I can not believe that gun manufacturers would be using the current "fad" of mercury based recoil compensation. Especially when we know how toxic Mercury is. We certainly rushed to faze out lead in migratory loads but to have something as toxic as mercury being sold in mass production numbers is mind boggling. If you have not read about the effects of mercury take a quick read on the net. It will blow your mind. Here is a quick tidbit though: 1 cc of mercury can effectively pollute 34 acres of fresh water. I Know that having it in a sealed gun stock means that the chance of mercury being accidentally spilled would be minimal but lets say your gun gets run over by a quad or some damage occurs and a spill happens, you are legally responsible to clean up the mess, which by the way is very difficult to clean up. Try like impossible without the right equipment. I have experience with Mercury and this is not something to fool with. Keep mercury out of your home!!!. I know that we all played with it as kids whenever we had the chance but the effects of mercury are now being known. For example in the U.S they are cracking down on HG to the point that they are calling for all mercury in thermometers to be elimated. Tell your gun store owner to carefully consider the effects of contributing to such an environmental disaster!! at some point in that guns life the mercury will need to be reclaimed. I can only imagine that we are going to regret the concept of mercury recoil systems. If you have a problem with recoil in your gun then you seriously need to find another sport if you think that a toxic substance will make your life easier. I mean why is no one else talking about this? If you love your wetlands and love to eat fish that are not toxic nightmares then why would this recent fad be allowed in Canada? We need to stop this!!! Do not buy a gun that utilizes mercury recoil compensation!!! for that matter start thinking about the mentality of supporting a company that cares little about your health or the environment.
