Can anyone tell me if you have tried Springfield XD?

I am debating between G17 and XD. I haven't seen anyone with XD and so haven't tried it myself.

Thanks

Questions

Do you find XD to be more natural in your hand and gives you better and natural aim?

Do you find XD to have heavier or less recoil compare to Glock?

Your feed back on any and all the characteristics of XD and/or comparison with Glock would be much appreciated.

Thanks

junk. sorry but after seeing around a dozen different ones #### the bed at my S&D nights, I just can't recommend this gun. Add to that the incredibly poor service that Springfield offers on them and it equals a run away as fast as you can situation.

That's good to know... I was thinkin about getting an XD

On the flip side, I've put 2000 or so rounds through mine, which I picked up used with unknown mileage a year and a half ago, and had zero issues. I like the grip angle more than Glock's, and the disassembly is similarly simple as Glock's. No complaints from me, but I've never dealt with the service dept.

Take a look at Questar's issues with Glock and their business practices with the Canadian market. For my next handgun, if Glock was in the running, that would be a deal breaker. If I were to go polymer all over again, I'd take a hard look at the M&P.

I've had my XD-40 since early 2006. The only problems I had with it was from shooting Wolf's lead reloads...They were super dirty and I needed to clean the gun every 500 rounds or it had ejection issues.

Other then that, I fired thousands of factory and CanadianBDX reloads WITHOUT cleaning it and have had NO problems. I love my XD.

Round count is probably about 5,000.

XD = excellent. I own the .40SW and like it much better than the Glock .40sw. It is heavier, and felt recoil is less, but keep in mind that it is a big gun.

I love my XD=40, 10k of rounds through it, looks like new. John at Wolverine has a parts channel, i'd buy through him again, and again. While all the other guys are buying new guns, trying to find the right one, I was lucky enough to have scored on the first try.

I've had some issues with the XD, notably the trigger bar in earlier models. Lately, they've come up with a fix for it and now they're working much, much better.
Now I have no real complaints. Certainly easier to strip and disassemble than the M&P :p

I am not XD fun, I love 1911 type pistols, however since I bought my XD I shot about 4000 rounds, and never had any jams.

Slavex seems to be the only guy around who knows the truth about XD's: that they are "junk". All the rest of us that actually own them and shoot them regularly, keep shooting them again, and again, and again, never having any issues (ie. My XD9: 4500 rounds so far with multiple brands of fmj and jhp with ZERO failures of any kind). The XD has a combination of features that really are a step up from Glock. There is only one downside to XD's in comparison to Glocks, and that is parts availability, but it appears that over time this is becoming less of an issue. If the XD has a major failure then it has a lifetime warranty. Springfield told me that R Nicholls is the Canadian distributor to contact.

I have an xd40 and love it. I prefer to shoot it over my Glock 22 (and so do most of the people I have taken shooting)

:)

I had an XD, now I have a Glock, I much prefer the Glock. I find the Glock more comfortable in my hands. That being said though, I found the XD to be probably on par with the Glock in terms of quality, although the finish on the Glock seems more durable. My 2 cents.

don't forget the xd comes with:

grip safety
loaded chamber indicator
cocked indicator
holster & mag holder

glock comes bare and naked

(I am thinking of getting a xd45 next)

Xd

At one point I really wanted to buy a Springfield, but unlike many of my other purchases, I decided to try it before I bought it. I shot a friends XD and it did feel good in the hand, grip angle was nice and being a lefty, I especially liked the ambi mag release. I found it less accurate than my Glock, muzzle flip was more pronounced and I found the take up on the trigger too long. I decided to pass and stick to the Glock.

I went to West Edmonton mall a few weeks ago and just for kicks thought i would shell out 60 bucks to shoot in the indoor range. the 1911 was busy so i shot the XD and i have to say i was very impressed with how accurate it was. I doubt these pistols are maintained as well as my own and judging by the pile of brass swept into the corner they see a fair bit of use. Having never shot anything but 1911, Sig229, And a host of S&W revolvers i was amazed at how easy it was to get the feel for that XD. I would buy one

I was informed that XD does come with holster and mag holder, but with higher price tag. So I guess you are getting what you paid for.

I know that it is almost a stupid to ask or very noobie like to ask "hey which one is better gun"? I just wanted to see if anyone had any major problems or have found significant differences in two models.

I really appreciate for your input so far everyone!!

Thanks:rockOn:
