I haven't used it for hunting (yet), but have burned through 50 rounds at the range and compared it against Czech surplus and Barnaul FMJ.
Group sizes are almost identical, in the 4-5" range, at 100 yards. That was with open sights on a 1952 Tula refurb, so your mileage may vary. Every barrel is unique, especially with mil-surps.
One thing to keep in mind is that it has a different ballistic trajectory than standard FMJ. Chinese surplus, Czech surplus, and Barnaul all run about the same at 100 yards, no noticeable change in point of impact at 100 yards. The Hornady SST rounds do hit noticeably higher, somewhere around 3.5-5inches at 100 yards. A full 360degree counter-clockwise turn on my front post brought point of impact back in line, or maybe it was 540degrees? Either one complete revolution, or one and a half.
Not sure why there's the change in POI, if it's that the ammo is loaded a bit hotter, or that the round itself has significantly better aerodynamics. I've heard both listed as the reason.
