has anyone used the PRVI 150sp in 7.62x54r for black bear?

I normaly run 180 gr bullets for hunting in my mosin but there are none around right now. has anyone used the 150 gr PRVI sp for bear?. i expect the range to be quite short much less than 100m. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have used them on moose with no problem...they seem to be pretty hot and shoot lower than the 180gr (go figure). No black bear will take a 150gr pill from a mosin. Shot placement is crucial as with any calibre.

no problem. 150gr has lots of energy, although IMO 180 gr is a better choice.

Factory Prvi 150gn lists muzzle velocity as 2838fps and energy as 2678ft/lbs

Winchester lists 150gn SuperX 308Win vel at 2820fps and energy at 2648ft/lbs

Winchester lists 150gn SuperX 30-06 vel at 2920fps and energy at 2839ft/lbs

So, that being said, you are currently loaded better than factory .308s and as close as damn is to swearing to the '06. At 100yds no animal will notice the difference. You have at it. She'll fetch ya a b'ar, my son.
