"has been hunted with" seems like a bad thing on the EE - Why?

I don't understand why so many sellers feel they must disclose a dirty secret on the Equipment Exchange, the hunting rifle that they are selling is in excellent, or good used condition, but Gasp! IT HAS BEEN HUNTED WITH!
Do people really feel that this is a problem? or are they in the habit of abusing rifles that they hunt with? Does hunted with = neglected and beat up? Or are there so many range rookies buying safe queens that it is a rare occurrence when a hunting rifle actually gets used in the field??
All of my hunting rifles are sighted in, tested with favourite loads, practised with, then used for hunting. When they don't have anything more to teach me or when something more interesting comes along, they get sold. I advertise their condition as used and describe any flaws. Am I missing something? Don't want to feel left out of the fashion trends... ;-)

Maybe some shooters don't want a rifle with blood on it. I wonder how many of the sks's here were used to drop a man on the battlefield.

Hunted with means only a 20% markup as opposed to the LNIB 30% and the normal 50% for "upgrades" installed on the rifle on the kitchen table.

It is all market value.

I think "hunted with" is a good way to describe a rifle that has some scuffs, scratches, and handling wear from use.

Rather than, pointing out every little mark and scuff, sharing the story/reason for every one and calling them "safe kisses"

Just means it has been around the block and will have standard use wear... perhaps worn bluing on the trigger guard and floorplate perhaps at the muzzle... scuffs and scratches on the stock etc... it just weeds out the collectors and pretenders...

Hunted with means that they will only want 80% of what they paid for it 20 years ago. Even though it is scratched and dented with pitting on it.

That's the way I've always seen it works for me

You guys have wild imaginations, LOL. "Has been hunted" means it's been carried in the bush, over terrain, etc. They're trying to tell you it has a few dings or bumps on it, it has been used. Has NOTHING to do with being "blooded". It's a hunting rifle - the seller rightfully assumes that anyone who is interested in buying a hunting rifle won't gaf if it's killed an animal or not.

To me, hunted with, means it doesn't have 5000 rounds through it. Sighted in then a few shots in the field. But I'm a newbie so I could be wrong.

It means everything from there are a few cosmetic flaws from rubbing on tree branches, etc. all the way to "I left it in a soft case over the off season and it's peppered with surface rust now".

As for good pictures. Don't end up unpleasantly surprised.

For sale....10/22 very low round count, real shooter with great groups. Comes with 10-25 rd aftermarket mags and two speed loaders. Never hunted with, excellent condition.

Everything is code on the EE. People sell for many reasons, at this time of year it can be for Christmas money, in Jan and Feb its to pay Christmas Visa Bills. If someone is being upfront about condition, i for one have no problem. Too me the initial ad is just a conversation starting point.

My enfield looks like it may have busted a few heads. Never been hunted with. By me. Lol
