Has Hornady changed their bullets?

So I get a new box of Hornady Interlock 225gr .338cal bullets, #3320. When I open the box and compare them to a part box of the same that I have on hand I see the bullets are different. Weight and caliber are the same but the construction is different. The new box was sealed from the factory. The one on the left is from my part box.

Is that a hollow point or is the lead flush with the tip and are they all the same in the new box?

The lead is flush and the whole box is the same.

Looking at the 2013 Hornady catalog it appears to have a small tip showing, i'd call or email and see what they say.

didn't they change the Interlock design a couple of years ago?

I've never seen an Interlock with no exposed lead. Weird!?!? I would contact them.

They did this with the 375 cal 270g as well. That was a few years ago. The part number changed from 3710 to 3711

I have both designs here at home as well.
They do not shoot the same in my Vanguard. The original is a bit less accurate than the new, FN design.

Do they perform the same on game?

That design is similar to the Speer MagTip.

Got a reply from Hornady saying they changed the design in heavy calibers to help stop deformation in the magazine. They call it a Recoil Point.
