Has it ever happened?

I recall seeing an article in a gun magazine years ago (sorry, don't remember what magazine) where they actaully set up a jig to test this ala Mythbusters. They actually did set off several tubes full of cartridges and showed the results, which were frightening. I always thought it was an urban legend, but that article made me a believer. But I shoot a Savage 99, so I use whatever bullets I want.

In their earlier ads for Leverevolution, Hornady said they had tested it for safety to 50 degrees below or so, as I recall.
A company smart enough to come up with and successfully market a product like this is not likely to leave a lawsuit door open. I'd use it under any conditions.


Methinks if someone is out hunting in 50 below zero then they have bigger problems than hard plastic tips on their ammo. :D
