Hey guys..

I know everyone and there mother has a 30-06 in the closet...

I just wanted to know if its ever failed you..

ie.. you put a shot where it should have killed / did kill something but the performance was lackluster.

would like to hear from the ontario guys (short range shots) and the bc guys (longer ranged shots)

I've owned a few 30-06s in the past four years but didn't kill a thing with one until this past fall, when I shot a moose with my 700 Titanium. Nothing could of performed better, the moose dropped with a high lung shot at around 250 yards (168 gr TSX).

I think I have shot 7 whitetails with an 06 It has never failed me. The only one I had to look hard for was a doe. I shot her at about 7-10 yards She jumped through a thicket with the dogs chasing her. I fired 1 shot. She disapperead on the run. I found 1 fleck of blood. In some snow on a leaf. I looked and looked for about 45 min. I thought, there is know way I could have just touched her at that range. I looked for about another 30 min I found her wrapped arond the base of a 8 ft pine. I just about tripped over her. If I didn't. I would have never of found her. I don't think. The bullet hit and exited the far side. Her lungs were hanging out the exit hole. She went about 100 yards from where I shot her. The only blood I saw was that one fleck. Just glad I didn't lose her. Because at that point I was ready to give up. Glad I didn't. But the 06 has never failed me. I swapped that rifle to Doug. Because I didn't think I needed it anymore. I now own three 30 06's go figure! LOL.

Dave.

Every 30-06 owner should have that quote in their sig.
