Never, though I've never given it the chance. I prefer more interesting cartridges. My '06 mostly sits in the safe

Same here. I know there's nothing wrong with it but it's too "plain" for me, It's like driving a Honda Civic, everyone has one. I had one for about a month, never shot it and had it rebarreled.

No, but I've never had ANY cartridge fail me when used in a proper application. Id say using a cartridge outside it's perameters is the fault of the shooter, not the cartridge.

I've made poor shots, had scopes fail and cause misses, and bullets fail to do thier job, but I can't see how any of that would be the cartridges fault..

The 30-06 has failed to interest me. There have been several times I could have bought them on some very interesting platforms (most notably an old Sako) but I just can't bear to.

'Tis a cartridge of compromise. Doesn't interest me one bit.

But it works, and it works damn well - I'll concede that.:runaway:

(Oh, and the 300WSM kicks it's ass.);)

I kinda regret selling all of the ones I had in the past, not one of them ever let me down. I should have kept one. Boring or not the old 6 is a great cartridge, no one can say it isn't.

Got a deal in the works right now to get another as a beater truck gun And I am sure it will never let me down either, as long as I can do my part.

Failed to stay in my collection yes, failed, no.
Boring!
It has failed others however. Was that failure due to once a year recoil shy shooters? We'll never know, because they'll never admit it.

By the way, the 30-30 has NEVER failed me!

The cartridge is as close to perfect as you can get for hunting the big game animals we encounter in Sask. Over 100- years later we have yet to make the 30-06 obsolete and doubt if we will any time soon. Even with a safe full of others I still am drawn to the old 06 when it comes to my fall elk and moose hunt. With a proper bullet and decent markmanship the cartridge will always do its part. But arn't those new cartridges fun.

Shot a
Doe once with my 30-06 perfect shoulder shot 150 grain winchester and she never even flinched when I went to where I shot no blood and she just walked away like nothing happend. A good thing I was sure of the shot as I searched a radius of 100 yards and eventially came across a drop of blood about 400 yards in the bush I found her dead but no blood. It was a perfect shot through the lungs but it didn't break up. I say no the 30-06 never let me down but the ammo has before.

Old meat-in-the-pot is chambered in .30-06 and it never failed me. Makes me wonder why I use so many other rifle/cartridge combo's to do what the .30-06 does with no muss or fuss.

Never, been a good cartridge to me over tha past 25 years of whitetail hunting, The first big game rifle i bought was a 30-06 Huskey! and it definitly has top pride in the gun room and took my first whitetail deer with it at young age sitting on a stand with my Uncle.
Since retiered the gun but i still think highly of the cartdige! been very kind to some of my dumb ass shots over the early part of my hunting life.
The ballistics simply suit most hunting situations in this country and being such a well rounded cartidge/caliber it just works!

No, never has let me down. shot my first Muley buck with one in 1957, and the amount of game that has fallen when I had an '06 in my hands is substantial. I can testify that it will kill grizzly, too. One shot at about 130 yards with a 200 Partition, and that's all she wrote. I have always owned at least 1 30-06, and sometimes as many as 4 at one time. Presently have 2, since I made a 721 that shot like a scattergun into something different. Lots of great chamberings out there, but when comparisons are made, it's generally the 30-06 that others have to stack up to. Regards, Eagleye.
