Has the MNR done away with H1 and H2 hunting designations?

Just renewed my hunting license after it had been expired for several years and I noticed that the new cards don't show that I have an H1 license whereas my old card did.

Have they done away with the separate designations for H1 and H2? It doesn't say H1 anywhere in my online account, nor does it say on the license information slip that you print out and carry with you, it just says "accredited hunter".

It makes more sense to just have one type, but I can't find any source to say for sure that's the route they went.

Thanks

If I remember correctly, they just have the Apprentice and Full license now. I know a guy who just bow hunts, and he did the same course and pays the same fees as everyone else. He does not have a PAL though. There is still a distinction between firearms and guns in the regs too. A crossbow, for the purpose of hunting in Ontario, is a firearm, but it is not a gun, etc etc.

Maybe check Service Ontario?

Yes.

They no longer care or track. Just say you can hunt. Just have it and your PAL and then obviously you can hunt with Firearms. If you have no PAL - bows it is.
