Has the SKS become the Canadian shooter's equivalent of the Ford 150?

Just get an SKS. Use it like it's the only gun you got. Find 2 applications that are just too frustrating, and buy 2 guns for that.
Those will be the only 3 guns you'll ever need for the rest of your life.
Chances are, those will be a 22 and a long barrel 12 gauge.

More like an old 70's dodge. Won't break down like a ford but will rust if you don't take super meticulous care of it.

Still not a good comparison. You can overdrive an SKS and it will work just fine and it’s definitely not gutless. Its not powerful by any means but not gutless. It’s more like a Chevy since the SKS sounds like a rattling valve as you shoot it. It can’t be a Ford because SKS doesn’t come with instructions, I’ve never seen an SKS dead on the side of the road and they don’t require being fixed or repaired daily. Now that I think of it, an SKS could also be a Ford since an SKS rarely, if ever, wins in a 3 gun match.

I genuinely can't remember what my 3rd firearm was...

If it was the Enfield, then that started the trip down the rabbit hole... :yingyang:

The main difference between the two is that - at least in Canada - the police are unhappy if you take the muffler off your F150 and are upset if you put a muffler on your SKS.

Go figure

This thread is starting to sound like beverly hills house wives comparing dildos. LOL.

They are gravel pit plinkers. Glad to hear they are so inaccurate, it means the odd miss at skeet’s in the bank at 75-100 yards is probably the gun. Haha Great off hand practice, specially with stock triggers. Pick up your targets and cases.

The SKS is plenty accurate if you take the time to learn the platform, and also find which ammo a given rifle shoots best:

600 yards:

For a rifle designed for 3-5 MOA accuracy out to 300 meters, the sks does exactly what it was intended to do.

Of course, results will vary with each shooter and even more so depending on the extent of wear to the barrel bore.
