Hate waiting for Pistols.

I dont miss the waiting game.... now that Im back in the states, the only wait I have is for the credit card machine to approve the transcation. I just fill out a form, hand them my ccw, they run my card, I go home, 10 min max for all gun purchases. Silencers still takes a while usually 5 weeks or so, but its worth it.... I think i may go buy a new gun today. :D

I waiting for a buyer to get the ok , it's been a while .
CFC/RCMP said 2 weeks - I'm begining to think that its 14 bussiness days .
What a complete and utter ( bad ) joke .
I can understand a time wait when your applying for your licence for the background checks and what not but to hold up a transaction ( be it bussiness or personal ) for a centerfire pistol to a guy who already owns a centerfire pistol ( both essientially the same gun ) is beyond moronic to me .

Get that grin off your face:)

Why the heck do es the CFO need to send someone to verify a pistol? I thought the local police were supposed to have verifiers qualified to do this. Really tough, Stick depth gauge rod down barrel until fit hits the breechblock, read measurement, record measurement. OH WAIT, SHOULD HAVE PROVED IT SAFE FIRST!

It's my 3rd week waiting for the transfer to go through for my last pistol purchased from the EE. It's and inner Ontario transfer too, so I figure I have a lot longer to wait :( . Ill call them tomorrow to check the status.

Well, 3 weeks later and I'm still waiting for my latest 12(6), sp101 DAO 357, and I've got another in the works, Glock 19 12(6). The prohibs seem to take longer then the restricted in Ontario.

The 12(6) G19 I bought last month was in my hands in a week, from ON to AB.

There's no rhyme or reason to it some times.:runaway:

From my understanding it isn't the actual transfer process - DLASK just needs the verifier to come down and check out the pistols and then CFC will complete the process. I believe that delays are based on CFO personalities (for lack of a better word) because when I was in MB transfers were darn quick (in province) but transfer in other provinces could have varying degrees of speed. In Alberta they are really big on "club membership" inc membership number. MB would ask once in a while.

Called Epps today and they said there have been delays due to the amount of PAL applications and hunting season. So looks like it will be more than the 2 weeks they originally thought. I feel like a little kid that wants a new bike but has to wait until Christmas. It really....really...sucks! LOL

Back in my home country ( England ) once you had been deemed suitable to hold a section 1 firearms certificate with the appropriate slots you could go to any gunshop or private seller, swap details and money and walk away with your new gun.
The government once they had issued you your ticket had you on record as being a safe and competant holder of firearms, all you had to do was exchange firearm certificate details and record the serial numbers and inform the police sometime over the next few days so they could add or subtract the details on your ticket.
The Canadian Government could learn a lot from this system, it worked when carried out to the letter and put trust on the side of the owner, this ATT system is just a way of keeping people employed and causes no end of paperwork that is not required.
You sit your training, are issued with a restricted / non restricted ticket, that should be all you need.

I hate waiting for anything... I have a reason for my impatient behavior but that's another story....

I have 6 packages in the mail at the moment, I'm like a kid a Christmas when things arrive.. have to cut in....

Absolutely true but there are some lessons I'd rather NOT have them learn from the UK. Like say, taking my handguns!

My Ontario restricted transfer is going on 4 weeks. I spoke to someone at the CFO on Thursday and they promised it would be taken care of that afternoon. Still no word...

The OPP guy was friendly enough, even belly aching about the current workload. I was polite but really, do you think I really care? The libs wanted this waste of time and police resources. It saves lives after all!

Bought a Sig P226 over the phone from TSE Monday, called Thursday AM and got the STATT to pick it up Friday....SWEET!!! Now thats service!

what is even WORSE than waiting for you pistol, is getting your spanking new pistol, to find out it has issues and need to go back to the dealer, and then on to someone else, who waits for 4 months now for parts from the sig factory in germany, and has yet to even play with it.....:-( well briefly, before the slide flew off and onto the ground. anyways, after all that waiting you are going to need to wait somemore. i even asked for a refund, they said NO. man i will never deal with that place again. soooo pissed off though.
