Hathcock shot, sorta

Cool to see someone trying this them selves. Not sure I would sacrifice any scope for science like that...

Why would anybody lie? We are still talking about it today, so maybe for a bit of recognition? Not saying they didn't do it, but it is entirely possible it was made up.

There is always the possibility it was made up, although I really doubt that. Could he be exaggerating the story? Mabey.

But you need to look at when the story happened. He was the best sharp shooter of the Vietnam war. Again, why would he lie about such a thing. When your the best at what you do, you don't need to fabricate BS stories to make yourself look good...thats what posers do!

Have you seen the interview with Rob Furlong? He tried to keep his long range shot under wraps and NOT BOAST about it. But when the word got, there was no stopping it.

Two men doing thier job, and something amazing happened along the way. They weren't looking for celebrity status on the battle field...that came after the event.

Sometimes it seems like Hathcock was the only sniper that anyone ever made a fuss over. I'm not trying to take anything away from him, because he was a genuine hero as well as a great shot. It may be a culture thing.
In world war 2 the Russians had women that had 2 or three times his number of confirmed kills. One of those took out a German who had 500 in his log book. I'm sure there many others that escaped notice. Maybe its better that way.

Here's few that got noticed, though they're hardly household names. http://www.bezbrige.com/index.php/Interesting-Facts/top-10-snipers-in-history.html

who cares if mythbusters did it... they're the new Simpsons, everytime someone does something you can be god damn sur the mythbusters did it! Its a good show but you gotta take it with a grain of salt... Plus they did mention in one episode that the red tip of a tracer round was what ignited when fired... Which is PHUCKING wrong lol the ignition and tracer compositions are at the bottom of the projectile.

So to you Sir I say, pretty darn cool what you did there no matter what lol

Best program CBC has managed to put on the air. Id love to get pulled over by him, but then again I never plan on living in Alberta.

"Cause Albertaaaaaaaaa doesnt suck, but Calgary does."

Since we're on the subject, I went and looked up the interviews for those who haven't seen them.

You won't convince me that either of these men were searching for celebrity status while on duty.

Cool interviews! Another off topic, anyone ever hear of Simo Hayha? In WW2 the Finn had 505 confirmed kills in 100 days with a Mosin-Nagant with iron sights!
His kill count was most likely much higher, though.

A contact of mine in Finland actually met the guy. They both come from the same home town, apparently the guy is SO small, he joked that they couldn't hit him cuz he was too short. He has a crazy life story and was a really good person.
