Hats for Hides

I was told that there would be no hats for hides this year so I was surprised to receive one. Not that I need another orange hat or really cared if I got one. But what I did notice is that in these times of financial hardship for many the Ontario MNR is looking out for jobless Canadians by purchasing hats made in China. Some time ago a fair bit of press was dedicated to foreign made flags at Queens park. Shouldn't our own government be expected to BUY CANADIAN?

The MNR has nothing to do with the hats for hides program...

Hats for Hides Program is funded by CORDA (Canada Ontario Resource Development Agreement), not the MNR. Recently a steering committee, consisting of representatives from the MNR, OFAH, Program Coordinators and Depot Collectors has been established to guide the program within the allotted funds.

My son was wanting one for his deer this year but the abbatoir didn't get em this year they said. Always got them there previously. He was disappointed as he started a collection some years back. It's weird since the one in the next town had em when we later phoned and asked. It was then too late to change abbatoirs cause his deer was already skinned and hanging.
