Hatsan Optima/Escort MPA Semi 12ga

I just picked one of these up. Have stripped, cleaned and oiled. Itching to get to the range.

I'd like to see a door breacher too.

Hi everyone, sorry to dig up a thread from a couple months ago but I recently received an MPA. It did not eject any shell I put in, 50 target load and 5 buckshot (all 2 3/4"). I noticed that the bolt is blown back but not far enough each time, does it mean my gun can ONLY take 3" shells? Didn't have a chance to try 3" yet but still pretty bummed out about the gun. Here's a video link to the gun jamming, help is appreciated! Thanks!

You don't have the o ring in the right spot. It shoots 2 3/4 and 3", pretty much any load.

Ryan.

Thanks for the quick response Chemist! I have the o ring seated right above the gas piston but on the magazine tube, is this correct?

Thanks! I will try using that exact method before I head to the range next time, will report on the results in a couple days.

Went the range today with the same 2 3/4" 1220 fps target load and a box of 3" Remington steel shot. Unfortunately with the correct method of oring placement the gun STILL won't cycle ANY of the target loads, with 3" shotshells the gun cycles fine. I'm starting to think my gun ONLY accepts 3" loads..

I hope I am not stating the obvious, did you give you gun a good cleaning? Especially, the two gas ports on the barrel. When I first got mine the two holes were filled with packing grease. (I think Norinco supplies the world with that gunk) The other option is that your O-ring is not seating correctly. Try putting the O-ring Into the barrel, then the gas piston (?) into the housing. Then put the barrel back on. This will ensure that the O-ring is seated correctly.

Thanks Shotgun, the gun is cleaned and well oiled the night before I went to the range and I made sure I installed the oring like you described. It just cannot kick out the target load shells for some reason, but with the 3" it felt fine. Any other problems that would cause this? The only other thing I can think of is that the recoil spring is too stiff?
