Does anyone know if a Hatsan FieldHunter rifled barrel will fit on a Hatsan Escort receiver?

The reason I ask this is that I was successful in a draw for Antlerless Elk this year, but I have to use a "primitive" weapon (shotgun or muzzleloader). If I use a shotgun, it has to be loaded with min 1.25 oz slugs. Naturally, I'd prefer to fire slugs out of a rifled barrel for accuracy.

Thanks in advance!

1oz = 437.5 grains.

i may be wrong - i dont use sabots - but i think youre going to have a hard time finding a 550 grain sabot slug.

you could try the Brenneke Gold Magnums, or Black Magics - they might fit the bill. not something you can pick up at CTC, or the average gun store.

I know it's a heavy slug, but it is what the regulations require. I got that from the notice Alberta Fish & Wildlife sent out to all 150 people who were successful in that draw.

Why not just use the Field Hunter or the Escort. Why do you want to mix and match? By simply looking at pictures of the two parts I can tell you and be 99% sure that they are NOT compatible. The loop that secures the barrel to the mag tube is much closer to the muzzle than in a Field Hunter. Not sure if it simply looks that way because of the longer barrel.

have you even tried to find a source for >550 grain sabot slugs (or slugs designed for rifled bores) in Canada yet? theyre not exactly common. AFAIK the Brennekes (Gold, Black Magic, etc) - which are not sabot slugs - are the only thing that fits the bill and there isnt much of a selection of those in Canada.
