Any feedback on Hatsan shotguns? Frontier Taxidermy has the following on sale for $299:

20" matte barrel, 7+1 round, pistol grip, and tip folding stock with shell holder. These shotguns make the ideal bear defence or camp gun. In addition to this each shotgun comes complete with a 2 year warranty.

Yes I would also like to know about this!

Just got the sale email...

Are any parts interchangable with 870 / mossy?

I've owned that exact shotgun. Never had any problems with it, and that was after well over 1000-1500 shells. Handled slugs nicely. Its actually one of the better shotguns I've owned, and at that price its a steal! The folding stock is metal, and is very sturdy. The 5 shot saddle wasn't as well made, but one could always fit a tacstar or something. There isn't a ton of aftermarket parts available for these unfortunately, but they handle nice as a stock shottie. Here is a link to the manf. homepage, worth a look if you are considering buying one. http://www.hatsan.com.tr/

They seem to have quite a bit of choice on the Hatsan website.

Hatsan is a Turkish company.

I went out to my local preferred dealer (has everything) and he had 2 Escort models in stock...but not the one Frontier is selling. He was expecting the Aimguards but could not quote a price after I told him the quote from Frontier ($299.00). That leads me to believe that he won't be able to meet the $299 quote and that Frontier's offer is truly a steal.

I did check out the 2 Hatsans he had in stock and I was impressed by the build and quality of the firearms.

The semi-auto Escort was light adn did seem better built then the Mossberg 930 or 935 and was in the same price range. The dealer actually said he found them to be better built than the MP-153s that he sold.

The pump Escort he had also seemed solidly built. I would say much better than the Stoeger P-350. The action was smooth and short (similar to a Winchester 1300 speedpump).

The furniture on the semi-auto was good (black) but the pump version's did feel more plastic than synthetic but it was still solid (an attempt at melding camo with plastic/ synth called "MagicWood": http://www.hatsan.com.tr/big_html/escort_fieldhunter_mw.html).

I may go for an Escort (Aimguard) depending on what my lovely wife already bought for me for my Birthday (I found out a while back that Christmas and B-days are the best excuses to justify a no-strings attached purchase of a new firearm). By the sounds of it she has actually stepped across the line of buying her husband firearms as gifts. This would make me a very lucky man indeed:D

P.S. I would like to hear from those of you who have pruchsed the Aimguard (range reports and pics).

I love the look of that gun. All set up and ready to go.
Don't say "shotties" Sounds too "effeminate."

I own the semi-auto version. It takes any beating that i throw at it. I've put a good 500+ down the tube, slugs, lead, steel. No problems whatso ever. Shoots straight and is durable.
